Enter a Sinner… and Leave a Saint

Below is a powerful excerpt from Dwight L. Moody’s last sermon in London, preached on July 11, 1875. He spoke plainly of the power of the blood of Jesus to save:

“There was blood in Goshen. God said, ‘When I see the blood, I will pass over you.’

He did not say, ‘When I see your prayers, or your tears, or your righteousness,’ but only:

‘When I see the blood.’

It wasn’t their feelings that saved them—it was the blood.

A little child, covered by that blood, was just as safe as Moses himself.

Some people say, ‘If I were only as good as that minister… or that praying woman…’

But the truth is, if you are behind the blood, then you are just as safe.

Death could not enter where the blood was found—whether rich or poor, young or old, king or servant. The blood made the difference.

Be wise, friend. Get behind the blood. The blood has been shed—it is on the mercy seat now. God looks at that blood and says, ‘I will pass over you.’

Don’t wait. Press in. Make haste. One day the Master will rise and shut the door. And then… there will be no more hope.”
